ALOHA GUYS! Quite a lot happening at XOTB at the moment…

The New Year has seen a couple changes to the XOTB staff, one of those being the Lovely Melissa who has taken on the Design and Media side of things. Welcome Melissa, we super stoked to have you on-board!!! Our very own Tarryn Kyte has not only been promoted up to Store Manager at Muizenberg but as many of you already know she is also heading out to the ISA SUP World Champs at the end of the month. Tarryn will be representing SA as the country’s number one lady SUP Wave rider and we’re sure that every lip she hits will turn to pure gold 😉

We have a couple cool new products in store. XOTB has been chosen as the local stockist of the exciting new dry solution brand Over Board. Their range includes a wide variety of products to keep your gear DRY and SAFE… From Phone Pouches to Dry Tubes to 130 Litre Dry Bags! The super-sexy ladies HOTTIE from ION has just arrived. This suit is not only ultra-comfy but super-sexy and is the perfect solution to combat the sudden drop in water temp. No wonder all the XOTB ladies were on them like hot-cakes!?! We also have the new GUL 3/2 and 2 range in store with a couple of very cost effective and reliable options on offer! And they look great too ! Our awesome Coreban Fins have also just been delivered to our door so come in to one of our stores to pimp out your SUP!

On the EVENTS side, we have had an incredible response and great over all enthusiasm around XOTB Tuesday paddles that have been taking place at Long Beach (Simons Town!) The weekly social paddle will now become a “mobile event” as we welcome the change in season, swell and wind direction.

The XOTB Team has also been very busy with Social Demo Days, Kids Parties and Lifestyle events including a Church Ground gathering at Sandvlei, an awesome kid’s adventure party in Hout Bay and a Lifestyle promotion at the amazing Westin Hotel in Cape Town City. If you have any queries regarding events or parties give our stores a call on either 021 709 0596 / 021 556 72 69 or email us on either muizenberg@jamesshier.com/cape-town / tableview@jamesshier.com/cape-town

On a very sad note, the Surfing Community has had to say goodbye to a true pioneer of the world of Surfing. Mr Hobart Alter, better known as “Hobie”, passed away early last week. The founder of the Hobie Company played a huge role in the development and success of the foam-and-fibreglass surfboard and was the creator of the famous “Hobie-cat” Catamaran. This true legend will live on in the heart of the surf and water-sport community for eternity…RIP.

Speaking of the Surfing Community, some of the XOTB Team attended the “Surfers Circle Big Jol” this past Saturday. The event was the first in a series of fundraisers to finance a Surfer’s walk of fame on the Muizenberg Beachfront. The evening was lekka and filled with some really cool live music, a few interesting speeches, some cocktails and a couple of snacks. Teehee. Most of all it was a very special privilege for us to be a part of an evening that paid tribute to the guys and gals who made Surfing in South Africa what it is today.

If you would like to find out more about this amazing initiative and plans for the Circle check out : https://www.facebook.com/Surfers.Circle.Muizenberg?fref=ts

Thats all from us for this week,

See you in the water!
